# The Solution
With GenWealth, our focus is to solve the problem of asset recovery and inheritance by leveraging the programmability of the Cardano blockchain and its high level of security to create “self-custody vaults” or “smart wallets.” This technology uses Cardano smart contracts to give you more control over your assets and lets you create rules for inheritance and crypto recovery for when you lose the seed phrase.
This solution is self-custodial, does not use intermediaries, and gives you even more control over your assets. Our focus is on providing a great user experience and ensuring that, using our solution, you can comply with the inheritance law in any country. This is leading us to work closely with inheritance firms.
More than just Web3, this solution will have a real-world impact: decreasing costs and time for inheritance processes, making it easier to update wills, and reducing fraud thanks to the security and immutability characteristics of blockchain. Users can optionally select lawyers and executors to help, and can provide specific permissions so those parties can assist with wills without being able to use the assets.
